savage beauty.
"i'm a romantic skitzophrenic." - Alexander McQueen
as i mentioned on tuesday, i saw the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit at the MET. SO cool, interesting and beautiful. i highly recommend to my fellow NYC-ers (hurry, it ends august 7th). even though photos are prohibited, i managed to sneak a few (shh) ...
(all quotes below by McQueen via the MET exhibit)
"i like things to be modern and sitll have a bit of tradition."
"i like things to be modern and sitll have a bit of tradition."
"i find beauty in the grotesque, like most artists. i have to force people to look at things."
"it's the ugly things i notice more, because other people tend to ignore the ugly things."
"women should look like women. a piece of cardboard has no sexuality."
and my friend and co-worker, kelly, was able to get some great shots with her hipstamatic iphone app (thanks, kel!) ...
and some faves from the exhibit that i wasn't able to get photos of (love the antlers) ...
the above shoes are SO, unbelievably pretty (the photo doesn't do it justice).
if nothing else, watch this video -
