blue button-down

my blue button-down* is definitely a hero piece in my closet. you can wear it year round, dress it up with jeans or trousers, heels and hoop earrings... or wear it casually with slouchy jeans and sneakers... or wear it over a dress... or as a cover up at the pool or beach... or with sweats and sneakers... or with shorts and sandals... i use it as a lightweight layering piece for warmer temps when a jacket is too heavy (like here). it's easy to wrap around your waist, drape over your shoulders or tie cross-body (see below). so many options.

here's some looks i'm loving with a classic blue shirt...

and with one of my fave drinks, an iced matcha? yes please.

so cute tucked into a denim skirt (or shorts)

love this casual look

a chic look

denim on blue on denim, check

this (and below) would be a cool, comfy travel look

a men's button-down is my favorite version because it has an oversized, relaxed look. i have this one from the GAP which i just updated because my old one (also men's gap) is probably 15 years old and is finally starting to show some wear. it's a classic piece that's super versatile and will stand the test of time.

me and my blue shirt...

*fun fact: a button-down is a shirt with buttons on the collar that button down to the shirt and a button-up is a shirt without buttons on the collar. i learned this from my dad who didn't like button-ups (he had a very classic style). i wear both versions, FYI.

happy styling.
